Project Description
This 1.5 mile project added the two inside lanes to the existing four-lanes of Bethany Drive from Allen Drive to FM 2551 resulting in a six-lane divided thoroughfare. In order to match a realignment of the Bethany Drive through lanes at FM 2551, improvements to Lucas Drive were required on the east side of the intersection. In addition, left turn lanes were added on FM 2551 at Bethany Drive/Lucas Drive and at Walmart’s driveways. Coordination with the City of Lucas was required for the taper of Lucas Road. TxDOT plan approval was required and a driveway permit was obtained. The over $2 million in project funding came from a combination of local, regional, and federal sources.
